BYU Sustainability Overview

Brigham Young University believes that, along with our responsibility to educate students and to prudently use the sacred funds entrusted to us, we have a responsibility to be wise stewards over the earth and its resources. The Lord said, "For it is expedient that I, the Lord, should make every man accountable, as a steward over earthly blessings, which I have made and prepared for my creatures." (Doctrine & Covenants 104:13) At BYU, this means we pursue opportunities for sustainability that we believe make a genuine difference and that also make economic sense. BYU has designated the following areas as top priorities as the university continues to create an environment of sustainability on campus:

Campus Building

Energy Conservation

Products and Materials

Recycling

Student Involvement

Transportation

Water Conservation

Zero Waste Events
