BYU Sustainability Overview

Overview

Brigham Young University believes that, along with our responsibility to educate students and to prudently use the sacred funds entrusted to us, we have a responsibility to be wise stewards over the earth and its resources. The Lord said, "For it is expedient that I, the Lord, should make every man accountable, as a steward over earthly blessings, which I have made and prepared for my creatures." (Doctrine & Covenants 104:13) At BYU, this means we pursue opportunities for sustainability that we believe make a genuine difference and that also make economic sense. BYU has designated the following areas as top priorities as the university continues to create an environment of sustainability on campus.

Energy Conservation

Products and Materials

Recycling

Campus Building

Student Involvement

Transportation

Water Conservation

Zero Waste Events
