*Although the Deed of Trust for Brigham Young Academy was drawn up in October 1875, the first experimental term under Warren H. Dusenberry did not begin until January 1876, with 70 students attending that term. BYA's second experimental term ran from April until June of 1876 under Karl G. Maeser with 29 students attending (enrollment reached 59 by the end of the term).

** Collegiate Department officially established. Figures prior to this date include precollege students.

# Brigham Young Academy was renamed Brigham Young University

## 1945-1946 marks the first of the large increases caused by returning servicemen following the end of World War II. Figures for this and following years are Fall enrollment figures only since cumulative figures would be inflated, and would not accurately represent the numbers in attendance at any one time.
